Final Thoughts
I went through a ridiculous amount of hassle just to get my Bluetooth working again. I own a laptop with a MediaTek RT3290 combo Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip, and after updating to Windows 10, Bluetooth just disappeared.
Microsoft completely dropped the ball. No native driver support. No fallback. And MediaTek (which took over Ralink) quietly stopped publishing drivers for this chipset years ago. It’s absurd. They just abandoned millions of users, pretending those devices don’t exist anymore.
This HP driver from 2015 is the only thing keeping this adapter alive in 2025. So yeah — it works. But it shouldn’t have been this hard.
Shame on Microsoft and MediaTek for pretending hardware support is optional.
